A months-long investigation by the Chelsea Police Drug Unit and the Revere Police Special Investigations Unit ended early Wednesday, September 23, with a search of a Revere home and the arrest of a 27-year-old Revere man on what Chelsea police described as cocaine trafficking and illegal possession of two firearms.
According to a release from the Chelsea Police Department, detectives obtained search warrants from Chelsea District Court for the home of Michael Lovejoy, 27, on Gore Road in Revere, and executed them in the early morning hours of September 23. Chelsea and Revere detectives seized:
- more than 100 grams of cocaine
- 21 grams of crack cocaine
- two firearms
- a high-capacity feeding device
- ammunition
Lovejoy was taken to Revere Police Headquarters, where he was booked, the department said. He will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court. The release did not list the specific charges or say when the arraignment will take place, and an arrest is not a finding of guilt.
“Great job by both departments on successfully and safely executing a search warrant such as this with not only narcotics, but also firearms being present,” Chelsea Police Chief Keith E. Houghton said in the release. “This is also a great example of departments working together for a common goal of getting drugs and guns off of our streets.”
The department did not say what first led investigators to Lovejoy or whether any of the cocaine was sold in Chelsea.
