Public meetings
- Monday, September 28, 5:30 p.m.: Chelsea City Council Sub-Committee on Public Safety on scooter safety, with the police chief invited. Committee Room 305, City Hall.
- Monday, September 28, 7 p.m.: Chelsea Charter Review Committee, City Manager’s Office, City Hall. Our preview of both meetings.
- Monday, September 28: Revere City Council public hearing on a proposed tree preservation ordinance that would require permits to remove trees on private property. Details.
- Tuesday, September 29, 6 p.m.: Community meeting on the 111 Eastern Avenue garage, Jordan Boys and Girls Club, 30 Willow Street. Food, interpretation and childcare for ages 6 and up. Details.
- End of September: Public comment closes on Pa’lante Chelsea, the draft master plan. The Planning Board votes on it October 27.
- Tuesday, October 13: Zoning Board of Appeals, including the continued Walmart depot hearing for 121 Webster Avenue.
Recreation and youth
- Boxing for all skill levels, ages 10 to 16: Thursdays, October 1 through November 19, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Morris H. Seigal Clark Avenue School, taught by a professional coach. $10 per visit. Register through Chelsea Recreation and Cultural Affairs at recreation.chelseama.gov.
- NRT Annual Harvest and Craft Fair trip: Sunday, October 4, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Sheep Pasture in Easton, with crafters, farm animals, pony rides and kids’ games. Youth $5, adults $15. Chelsea Recreation provides transportation from the Williams Building, 180 Walnut Street. Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 30; space is limited.
- Nutcracker auditions: Sunday, September 27, at the Jessica Gordon Academy of Performing Arts in Winthrop. Ages 6 to 10 from 10 to 10:45 a.m., ages 11 and older from 11 a.m. to noon; ages 3 to 5 register without auditioning. Rehearsals are Sundays. Details at jgapa.com.
Save the date
- Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m.: The 12th annual J. Barry Dwyer Red Devil Turkey Trot, from Chelsea Public Schools and Chelsea Athletics, with a 5K race, a 3K walk and a kids’ 400-meter run. Proceeds go to the J. Barry Dwyer Memorial Scholarship and the Chelsea High School cross country and track and field programs. Registration is open on Race Roster.
Recently
On September 21 the Chelsea Police Department opened its 2026 Faith and Blue events at Temple Emmanuel, meeting members of the city’s Jewish community for an evening of conversation led by Rabbi Oksana Chapman, around Yom Kippur. The department described the evening as the start of its 2026 Faith and Blue events.
