Juan Jose Dubon Valdivieso, a commercial painter who came from Puerto Cortes, Honduras, to Chelsea and later moved to Lynn, died unexpectedly on August 19. He was 50.
He was born in Puerto Cortes on May 17, 1976, to Jose Santos Dubon Castellanos and Soledad Margarita Valdivieso, both of whom died before him. He grew up there, came to the United States as a young man, and settled first in Chelsea. He painted commercial buildings for a living and was known among the people he worked with for taking the work seriously. He was a devoted Real Madrid supporter.
He is survived by his partner, Ligia Belisle, and their son, John Carlos Dubon Belisle, who live in Texas, and by two brothers in Puerto Cortes.
A wake was held September 4 at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea. He was returned to Puerto Cortes for funeral services and burial. The family published his obituary in Spanish as well as English; the full text in both languages is on the funeral home’s page.
