Paul J. Serino of Revere died on Monday, November 2. He was 83.

He was born in Boston on May 16, 1943, and grew up in the North End. Over the years he made his home in the North End, Revere and East Boston, and the neighborhood where he started stayed with him; his family says his North End stories held the attention of everyone in the room.

His working life was in restaurants and hospitality. He put in years at Spinelli’s Bakery in East Boston and with the Odyssey cruise line on Boston’s Seaport waterfront.

Away from work he kept his pleasures simple. He followed horse racing, sat down to cards with friends, watched classic movies, and liked nothing better than a good cigar and an Italian meal. Family and friends remember an outgoing man with a large personality who left an impression on the people he met.

He leaves his son, Paul A. Serino, and three grandchildren, Zachary, Alec and Sarah Serino. He also leaves nephews Steven, Edward and Joseph Serino. His former wife, Patricia, and his brother, Louis Serino, died before him.
