The elevator at Chelsea City Hall is out of service while it is being repaired, the city said this week, and it does not expect the elevator to be working again until sometime next week.

Anyone planning a trip to City Hall at 500 Broadway who cannot use the stairs, or has trouble with them, should call Chelsea 3-1-1 first at 617-466-4209 to talk through accommodation options, the city said.

What can be done without the trip

Chelsea 3-1-1 can handle a number of City Hall errands over the phone, according to the city, including paying bills, requesting copies of birth and marriage certificates and pulling permits. Staff can also walk callers through doing those things online. The city’s list of services that can be completed online is at chelseama.gov/online-services.

Questions about the elevator also go to Chelsea 3-1-1 at 617-466-4209.

Meetings this week

Several city meetings are scheduled at City Hall in the coming days, including the Community Preservation Committee on Thursday, October 15, at 6 p.m. in Room 102 on the first floor, which can also be joined by Zoom. Our preview of this week’s board meetings has the details.
