Chelsea City Manager Fidel Maltez will take questions and ideas from residents at an informal drop-in conversation on Wednesday, November 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Williams Building, 180 Walnut Street.

The city’s Recreation and Cultural Affairs department is organizing the evening. Its announcement says residents can learn about the work the city has been doing, find out how to take part in city activities and events, and share ideas, suggestions and opinions. No appointment is needed, and walk-ins are welcome. The announcement was posted in English and Spanish.

As city manager, Maltez runs Chelsea’s day-to-day government. Several topics now on the city’s table are likely to come up: a proposal to drop parking minimums for new housing that is expected to reach the City Council in November, a review of the on-street parking sticker program, and a string of large housing proposals, including 150 apartments at 717 Broadway.

Same night

The Traffic and Parking Commission meets at 6 p.m. the same evening in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. The rest of the week, from Election Day Tuesday to Chelsea Reads on Saturday, is in our week-ahead calendar.
