Chelsea Boy’s soccer

Chelsea, Massachusetts

In the ’09 regular season finale, Chelsea’s boy’s soccer Devils are set to take on Commonwealth Athletic Conference rival Northeast Metro at home today. Currently locked in a tight race for first place, the winner of this matchup will secure the CAC championship. Chelsea has remained competitive with Northeast by winning its past two contests, including a 1-0 victory over Greater Lowell last Thursday where Elvin Merino netted the sole goal. Goalkeeper Norliss Torres delivered a strong defensive performance with several key saves that preserved the win. The Red Devils dominated Greater Lawrence on Tuesday, posting a 7-2 triumph that brought their record to 12-3-1. In that game, Merino contributed two goals and two assists, while junior defensive player Yanquel DaSilva scored twice in his first multi-goal outing of the season. John Carlo-Vega also found the back of the net for his first goal of the year, and both Alex Palencia and Jaime Ayala added scores to the decisive victory.
