Marion E. (Deschuytner) Walczak, a longtime Chelsea resident, passed away on January 25 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home at the age of 77. She was a St. Rose High School graduate who went on to study at the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. During the mid 1960’s and early 1970’s, Walczak worked as a day school teacher at Clare Colari’s Kindergarten/Day Care in Chelsea. Her career also included serving as School Librarian at St. Stanislaus Parochial School for an extended period and working as a Clerical Worker for the Metro Credit Union before her retirement in 1982. For the past 28 years, she lived with Severe Multiple Sclerosis.

A native of Chelsea, Walczak was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Josephine (Kiewlicz) Deschuytner. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Walczak and devoted mother of Chelsea Police Officer Gregory Walczak, Paula Sheppard and her husband, Andrew, all of Chelsea. She is also survived by her brother Edward Deschuytner and his wife, Caroline, of Wyndham, NH, as well as nephews Matthew and Brian Deschuytner.

Visiting hours will take place today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Memorial Funeral Home, 157 Washington Ave., Chelsea. The Funeral will be held on Friday, January 29 at 8 a.m., also at the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut St., Chelsea. The service will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.
