George Gonsalves, who had made Chelsea his home for 10 years, passed away on February 7 following an extended illness at Eastpointe Nursing Rehabilitation Center. Originally from Somerville, Mr. Gonsalves spent more than 25 years employed in the parts department at Knox Bros. Dodge, located on Broadway in Somerville, before retiring from that position. He is survived as the devoted son of Joseph and Mary (Sousa) Gonsalves, both deceased, and as devoted brother to Dorothy Benedetti of Malden, as well as to the late Ruth Roland, Mary Lynch, Henry Gonsalves, and Joseph Gonsalves.
Funeral arrangements have been set for Tuesday, February 16. The service will begin at 9 a.m. at the Smith-Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street in Malden’s Maplewood Square, with a Funeral Mass following at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden. The day’s observances will conclude with interment at Cambridge Cemetery. Family and friends are warmly encouraged to attend.
