An advisory has been distributed by Chelsea City Hall to alert residents about the intense heat wave affecting New England over the last three days. City officials are encouraging residents—particularly seniors—to drink plenty of fluids and spend as much time as possible in cool environments until the extreme temperatures ease. According to forecasters, conditions should improve by Thursday. Residents are also being advised to minimize time outdoors and avoid strenuous physical exertion. Seniors experiencing heat-related distress should contact the Chelsea Senior Center or the Health Department for assistance. In response to the heat wave, the Department of Conservation and Recreation has announced extended hours at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Pool on Carter Street. The facility remained open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, with plans to extend evening hours further as the heat wave persists.
