Robert J. Griffin, a resident of Revere who previously lived in Chelsea, passed away on July 19 at the age of 69. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Cary Square Associates and maintained a 40 year membership in Local 33 Carpenters Union. A US Marine Corps veteran, he had served during the early 1950’s.
Griffin is survived by his wife, Margaret M. (Keene) Griffin. His children include Robert J. Griffin, Jr. of Washington and Margo M. DiBiasio of Saugus. He was the father-in-law of Cindy Gallegos of Washington and Robert “Bobby” DiBiasio of Saugus. His siblings were Edward Griffin of Revere and John Griffin of Georgia. His parents, Joseph J. and Margaret M. (Briggs) Griffin, predeceased him.
Five grandchildren survive him: Matthew, Michael, and Joseph Griffin, all of Washington, as well as Mia and Marina DiBiasio of Saugus. He also leaves behind numerous sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will take place today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the William R. Carafa & Son Home for Funerals, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea. The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, July 23 at 8 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
