Residents who are clearing snow are asked to avoid pushing it into streets that have already been plowed. Moving snow into the street works against the progress that has been made. In a city our size, cooperation from all residents is essential for success. The excellent work of our snow removal professionals should not be undone by such actions. Additionally, residents must avoid contact with any downed power lines. The city is allowing homeowners a two-day window to remove snow from sidewalks and pathways; failure to do so will result in citations. With temperatures dropping and snow having accumulated, road salting has become the priority to ensure safe conditions. While plowing operations have been observed to be thorough and extensive, occasional spots may be overlooked. When this happens, a call to 911 will bring prompt attention to the issue. The city has performed admirably in handling what is fundamentally a challenging undertaking. Clearing snow from more than 100 streets in our small city represents a complex and costly endeavor—particularly during significant snowfall events. Our snow removal experts deserve recognition for their efforts. The streets throughout the city have been effectively cleared of snow.
