Chelsea will host the top economic official from Gov. Deval Patrick’s administration today, Thursday, April 25th. Secretary Greg Bialecki from the Office of Housing and Economic Development is launching a tour through nine emerging cities and towns, with four stops scheduled in Chelsea during the morning.
The secretary’s itinerary focuses on business and development initiatives that demonstrate Chelsea’s growing appeal as a location for commercial investment and residential growth, according to materials from his office.
Following the site visits, Bialecki will participate in a luncheon with local business and government representatives.
The morning’s stops are scheduled as follows:
•10 a.m. Tito’s Bakery, Broadway
•10:30 a.m. New England Sculpture Service, Arlington St.
•11 a.m. One North of Boston, 6th Street
•Noon Residence Inn, Maple Street
According to his office, Tito’s operates as a “local institution” and an “anchor” of the city’s Latino business community; it described the foundry as a “key part” of Chelsea’s creative economy. One North represents a development bringing market-rate housing in proximity to public transportation.
The broader tour will continue through Charlestown, East Boston, Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, Somerville and Winthrop.
