The FBI is finally arriving in Chelsea—a statement that carries decidedly different weight today than it would have in years past.
For several years now, residents and city officials have eagerly anticipated this moment. The project represents something the City has been hoping for.
Plans for a 250,000 sq. ft. office building with 420 parking spaces were submitted this week to both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Emerald Corporate Center LLC, the entity controlled by Anthony C. and Patricia Simboli through ACS Development, is seeking the necessary approvals. The structure would occupy 5.125 acres of vacant land at 201 Maple St., situated directly across from the new Residence Inn. Major site development approval is being sought for the project.

They realize how important it is to everyone in Chelsea. Another developer with a lesser commitment would have redeveloped this into some lesser project. The FBI building will be the crowning jewel of all the great thing we’ve done on Everett Avenue.”
According to Ash, construction could break ground as early as next spring, with summer of the following year as another possibility.
The ZBA hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27th.
