Paul Carlson, who works at Eastern Salt, leads John Schwagerl through the expansive green amphitheatre situated at the newly constructed industrial-themed park along Marginal Street. The facility is expected to hold its official opening ceremony at some point this year. Marine-themed features throughout the park include a wheelhouse salvaged from a vintage vessel and historic marine dock components. The site also repurposes granite from the demolished Chelsea Street Bridge and the distinctive ‘spines’ of former oil tanks that previously occupied the location (visible in the image above). The park’s design has already earned recognition with a national landscape design award.
