Chelsea, Massachusetts

Shannon Brisson stands as Chelsea’s sole certified reflexologist.

In June of last year, Brisson opened Sole Endeavor Reflexology, her own private practice specializing in foot reflexology. The business operates from a comfortable office suite at Admiral’s Hill Office Suites, 285 Commandant’s Way.

According to Brisson, reflexology is “a gentle, relaxing bodywork modality which is appropriate for all populations, regardless of age or where one may fall on the wellness spectrum.”

“It is based upon the premise that the entire body is reflected on the feet, hands and ears and that there are specific areas that correspond to glands, organs and body systems,” Brisson explained. “And it is through the application of very specific thumb and finger techniques that induces a state of deep relaxation with acute awareness- much like twilight sleep or meditation.”

Brisson’s credentials are substantial. She holds certification as a Reflexologist after completing 320 hours of specialized study, with additional training in working with Post Traumatic Stress and cancer patients. Her background also includes massage therapy training, which provided comprehensive instruction in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology.

She maintains memberships with both the Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and the Massachusetts Association of Reflexology (MAR).

Research has well-documented the effects of stress on health. Brisson notes that reflexology, alongside practices like yoga, meditation, and acupuncture, has been shown to help reduce cortisol, the body’s stress hormone.

A Chelsea resident for twelve years, Brisson lives in the city with her husband Dan and their two children, Ginger, 7, and Desmond, 5.

“Chelsea was my first choice for a practice location,” Brisson stated. “I’m delighted to be in the Admiral’s Hill Office Suites. They have been so accommodating and welcoming.”

Brisson envisions her practice as part of a larger wellness movement in Chelsea and hopes to contribute to building a community focused on mind-body health.

“Many Chelsea residents are going in to Boston and other communities to get services that Chelsea could create here,” Brisson noted.

Beyond her individual practice, Brisson collaborates with other practitioners to organize regular pop-up holistic clinics. These events offer community acupuncture, yoga, and Reiki on a donation basis, introducing residents to various healing modalities while supporting organizations including There and Back Again, Lucy’s Love Bus, Crossroads Family Shelter, and Zumix.

The response to her practice has been encouraging, according to Brisson.

“It’s been a wonderful launch,” Brisson shared. “I have had a great response from Chelsea and Admiral’s Hill residents and I’m very encouraged by the reception since I began my practice.”
