Mohegan Sun and Wynn Resorts will learn their fate regarding the Region A casino license at a Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting scheduled for Sept. 12 – remarkably soon given that this process has stretched across an entire year. The all-day Friday session may result in the license being awarded definitively, though the MGC retains the ability to reschedule or delay this date.
Before that decision arrives, another significant development in the casino saga will unfold next Monday, Aug. 11, at 4 p.m. The final of three MGC local public hearings will convene at Revere High School Auditorium. This session continues the June 24 hearing held at the same location and is
“intended to provide the Commission with the opportunity to hear any comments related to events occurring since the opening of the Host Community Hearing.”
Municipal representatives, members of the public, and closing remarks from both the applicant and Host Community will all participate. Each speaker will have a four-minute limit enforced by the Commission. Those wishing to address the board must register in advance by sending an e-mail with ‘Request to Address the Commission/Mohegan Sun MA, LLC’ as the subject line.
On Aug. 12, Everett will host a comparable hearing regarding the Wynn Resorts proposal being considered for that municipality.
