Chelsea Police are investigating several leads and speaking with witnesses about a brazen stabbing that occurred on Blossom Street Monday afternoon involving multiple attackers.
The victim is a 14-year-old student at Chelsea High School (CHS), according to Capt. Keith Houghton, though the student was not present at school on the day of the incident.
Supt. Mary Bourque stated that the student was absent and confirmed the school—despite its proximity to the scene—was never targeted and faced no danger. While she verified his enrollment at CHS, she declined to release his name.
According to police, the young man suffered multiple stab wounds around 1:40 p.m. at the hands of at least three assailants, one of whom was riding a bicycle.
Bystanders witnessed the assault and reported seeing the three suspected attackers escape in the direction of Carmel Street.
The witnesses discovered the severely injured youth in the street and immediately contacted authorities. Emergency responders transported him to Mass General Hospital.
His condition has improved from serious to stable.

Houghton explained that upon learning the victim’s age, police immediately contacted CHS to verify the incident had no connection to the school. He confirmed that the school remained secure and that the young man had not attended on Monday.
Unverified accounts suggest that after being stabbed, the young man crawled along Addison and Blossom Street calling for assistance and warning that his assailants intended to kill him. These desperate pleas likely alerted nearby residents to the daylight assault and may have prompted the attackers to flee.
