Mathematics instruction became engaging and dynamic under John T. Andreadis, whose evident passion for teaching and classroom presence helped students grasp new mathematical concepts with enthusiasm.
Colleagues, students, and parents alike held John T. Andreadis in high regard as an exceptional educator and administrator. He passed away on October 7.
Those who knew him remember his sparkling personality, energetic and vibrant approach, and solid teaching methods that demonstrated unwavering commitment to every student who looked to him as a role model.
At Shurtleff, John T. Andreadis worked alongside a dedicated faculty of legendary junior high teachers including Bill Sartorelli, Arnold Goodman, James Stafford, Anthony DiGregorio, Saul Slavit, Dr. John Mahoney, Mary Raimo and others who inspired their students to excel.
Among his contributions to education was mentoring student-teachers like Richard Fineran, who became an accomplished educator and Hall of Fame volleyball coach in his own right.
Mr. Andreadis held the position of principal at both Shurtleff and Mary C. Burke Schools, continuing the distinguished legacy of earlier principals such as Joseph E. Henry, who led Shurtleff during Mr. Andreadis’s tenure as faculty member.
His family and children should know how deeply beloved John T. Andreadis was throughout this community as a teacher. Every day, Mr. Andreadis devoted himself fully to his students. He was a valued presence, and those who studied under him and worked alongside him remain grateful.
