James ‘Jimmy’ Palladino
Essex County Sheriff’s Department Retiree
At the Oceanside Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, NH, James J. “Jimmy” Palladino passed away while receiving supportive care. He was 65 years old.
A Chelsea native and son of John and Robina (McKinley) Palladino, he completed his education at Chelsea High School after attending Chelsea schools. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and received an honorable discharge in 1970.
Upon his return to Chelsea, Jimmy pursued further education at Essex Community College, where he earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. For 15 years, he served as head bartender at the Continental Restaurant in Saugus. His career also included work as a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor for C.A.B. in Salem and, most recently, with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, from which he retired in 2007. Golf, fishing, and beach walks were among his favorite pastimes.
Jimmy is survived by his mother, Robina (McKinley) Palladino of Chelsea, and his siblings: Jack Palladino and his wife, Michele of El Mirage, AZ, Joel Palladino and his wife, Paulette of Danvers, and Jay Palladino and his wife, Kathy of Kensington, NH. He was predeceased by his father, John Palladino. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, October 11 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cardinal Cushing Pavilion (inside St. Michael the Archangel Chapel) at Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 10 a.m. The Anthony Memorial-Frank A. Paul Nachtwey
Attorney
On September 29, Attorney Paul D. Nachtwey of Chelsea, formerly of Boston, died unexpectedly.
Paul held memberships in the Westford Sportsman Club, Boston Big Game Fishing Association, and the Sports Car Club of America.
He was the loving son of the late James and Anna (Stockton) Nachtwey and the dear brother of James A. Nachtwey and John Nachtwey and his wife, Lada Moyseev.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be announced later this month through www.ruggieromh.com and the funeral home.

Jean Tomasik
Square Cab Retiree
Jean (Rich) Tomasik, a Boston native and longtime Chelsea resident, passed away on September 30 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, where she had been receiving supportive care. She was 80 years old.
Until her retirement in 2001, Jean worked for over 10 years as an operator and office coordinator at Square Cab.
She was the devoted wife of the late Stanley Tomasik and the beloved mother of Elizabeth Estabrook of Farmington, NH, Dianna Stephenson and her husband, Frank, Debra Mitchell and her husband, Danny, and Mary MacDonald and her husband, Hugh, all of Chelsea, as well as Stanley Tomasik and his wife, Nancy, and stepson Richard Tomasik and his wife, Theresa, all of Port Charlotte, FL. Jean was the cherished grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 18, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Smith Funeral Home, Chelsea, handled arrangements. Committal Services were private.
