It is a tremendous honor to welcome Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen to Chelsea.
As an international figure, Mrs. Yellen stands as a leader in the world’s economy. Her accomplishments in the field have earned her admiration and respect from economists and financial professionals worldwide. Her educational background reflects her prominence: she graduated summa cum laude from Brown University and earned her Ph.D in economics from Yale University. Additionally, Mrs. Yellen served as an assistant professor at Harvard and as a lecturer at The London School of Economics.
During her time in the city, Mrs. Yellen planned to visit CONNECT, a consortium of local organizations based at The Neighborhood Developers (TND) headquarters. According to TND Director Ann Huston, the significance of this visit cannot be overstated—”fblikebutton_button” it represents the biggest event in her organization’s history.
City Manager Jay Ash shares in the enthusiasm surrounding this visit, and for good reason. Ash has led our community to achieve the national All-America City Award, and Mrs. Yellen’s presence marks another milestone for a city that has consistently earned national recognition for its collaborative programs and organizational efforts.
The visit of Mrs. Yellen brings national attention to our exceptional CONNECT program. We anticipate that Chair Yellen will appreciate learning about this valuable initiative, which serves residents seeking employment opportunities.
We extend our gratitude to Chair Yellen for choosing to visit our city.
