This evening (Thursday), the Chelsea Collaborative will present its 26th Annual Holiday Gala at Spinelli’s in East Boston.
The event will celebrate community members who, as the organization describes them, “have brought significant accomplishments toward social, environmental, and economic justice for Chelsea.”
Yet while the Collaborative serves as the awards presenter, this occasion also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable work the Collaborative has accomplished within Chelsea itself.
Executive director Gladys Vega and assistant executive director Roseann Bongiovanni traveled to Denver this past June, where they witnessed City Manager Jay Ash receive the All-America City Award from the National Civic League—a moment of considerable pride for the organization.
The Collaborative’s leadership understood well that their organization’s contributions played a significant role in Chelsea earning this honor, making the city the only one in Massachusetts to receive the prestigious award.
For years, Gladys Vega has embodied the high-energy commitment to community service that defines the Collaborative. Notably, she received the Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award from the National Football League, with Patriots owner Bob Kraft presenting the honor to this accomplished administrator before 68,000 fans at Gillette Stadium.
As Gladys Vega and the Chelsea Collaborative honor others at tonight’s gala, Chelsea itself is enriched by the organization’s presence and dedication.
