As the New Year arrives, it offers an opportunity for us to look back on the year behind us and ahead to what lies before us.
Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem, Ring Out, Wild Bells, captures the sentiment many share at this moment:
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
By most measures, 2014 proved to be a strong year for America, yet an undercurrent of unease persists throughout the nation—something that neither politicians nor others seem equipped to resolve.
As 2015 dawns, perhaps we can release the anxieties that weigh upon us and chart a course forward that serves the interests of all Americans and people everywhere.
We extend our warmest wishes to all our readers for a Happy and Healthy New Year.
