POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING AT PARK
On May 12 at Highland Park, Chelsea detectives are looking into a stabbing that took place in daylight hours at 7:33 p.m. Officers were dispatched after receiving a report of multiple males engaged in a fight within the park grounds.
Upon their arrival, the first officers on scene discovered a 33-year-old Chelsea resident positioned against a fence with multiple stab wounds. This victim was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries that were not life-threatening. The investigation was hampered by the victim’s unwillingness to cooperate and his minimal account to responding officers. According to witness statements, a group numbering four to five males entered the park and proceeded directly to where the victim was sitting with companions. The victim was assaulted during the resulting confrontation while his associates fled the scene. The perpetrators are believed to have departed the park, entered a silver Toyota, and driven away. Police have determined this attack was targeted rather than random in nature.
The investigation remains ongoing with Chelsea Detectives.
FIFTEEN CHARGED IN CARY AVENUE RAID
In an early Saturday morning operation at a vacant Cary Avenue property, Chelsea Police arrested fifteen individuals on Trespassing and Breaking and Entering charges while also confiscating multiple weapons, including a loaded Glock 40 caliber handgun. Officers received notification at 1:40 a.m. regarding trespassers occupying a bank-owned building at 56 Cary Ave., along with intelligence suggesting some occupants might possess firearms. Upon entry into the unit, police encountered a trashed apartment where they began detaining several youth. Two individuals attempted escape through a second floor window but were apprehended by officers positioned behind the structure. In the kitchen area, police discovered and secured the unattended handgun, which had been reported stolen to Boston Police in 2012. Additional seized items consisted of a replica firearm, brass knuckles, and knives. The State Police Crime Lab and Chelsea Detectives will process the recovered weapon.
TROOPER ARRESTS OUI DRIVER WHO INJURED TWO PEDESTRIANS
Following a crash early Saturday on Route 1 southbound at Route 60 in Revere, a Chelsea man will be arraigned today in Chelsea District Court facing operating under the influence charges. The incident occurred at 2:10 a.m. when the defendant struck a disabled vehicle, propelling it into two bystanders—a woman from Lynn who was the disabled car’s driver and a Roslindale resident who had stopped to assist her.
Massachusetts State Trooper Brendan Murphy apprehended Nicholas Schaeneman, 27, at the scene. Schaeneman was driving a 2012 Honda Civic southbound when he collided with a 2001 Civic parked on the roadside due to mechanical failure. The collision’s force pushed the disabled Civic against the two pedestrians standing nearby. Following failed field sobriety tests, Schaeneman reportedly registered 0.2 on a portable breath test. At the Revere State Police Barracks following arrest, prosecutors noted he recorded a .22 result on an official test. Officers discovered two open vodka bottles in the vehicle’s center console and beer in the trunk.
At present, Good Samaritan Amaury Ramirez, 39, remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to family. The 20-year-old Lynn woman sustained facial and head trauma, undergoing surgery Monday after ambulance transport from the scene.
At the State Police Revere Barracks, Schaeneman faced charges including operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container in a vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
Judge Michael Patten presided over Monday’s Chelsea District Court arraignment, establishing bail at $15,000 while ordering Schaeneman to abstain from driving and alcohol use, and to submit to random alcohol screening if released.
DANGEROUS DRUG SHOWS UP IN EVERETT
A dangerous psychedelic substance has emerged on Everett streets, prompting a police warning. Last weekend’s arrests of two individuals exhibiting severely erratic behavior led to the identification of this designer drug called NBOMe or 25i.
Everett Police took two people into custody over the weekend after they displayed bizarre self-destructive conduct attributed to consumption of this new psychedelic designer substance.
This recently surfaced illicit drug has been marketed toward school-age youth and has been connected to no fewer than three deaths of teenagers nationally, according to Everett Police. The substance circulates as counterfeit LSD at prices between $1.50 to $5 per dose, though it is actually a poisonous chemical with severe adverse reactions, police added. It may appear as stickers, powder, or tablets.
According to drug education specialists, this represents one of the most troubling changes in drug availability over the past two decades.
“Be sure to educate your kids about this new deadly drug; it is in the metro Boston area,” stated Everett Police.
