Stephanie Malachowski
Lifelong Chelsea resident
On Sunday evening, June 21, Stephanie B. (Mikolajewski) Malachowski died at the Charlwell House in Norwood, where she had been receiving supportive care for two years. She was 95.
A native of Chelsea, Stephanie was one of five children of the late Franciszek and Anastasia (Budzinski) Mikolajewski. Following her education in local schools, she worked briefly as an assembler at Standard Box Co. in Chelsea. In 1947, she married Bronislaw Malachowski. The couple had three children together—two daughters and one son—and Stephanie devoted herself primarily to her household and family.
Throughout her life, Stephanie remained a faithful communicant and parishioner at St. Stanislaus Church in Chelsea. She was an active member of the former Rosary Society and the St. Stanislaus School Mothers Club. She found contentment in a quiet domestic life and in staying informed about current events and family matters.
Stephanie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bronislaw (after 60 years of marriage), and her siblings Mary Kondracki, Jeanette Banusiewicz, Matilda Mroczek, and Wallace Mikolajewski. She leaves behind her three children: Ann Malachowski of Dedham, Janice Laskowski with her husband Timothy of Portland, CT, and Paul Malachowski with his wife Carol of Franklin. Her grandchildren are Craig Laskowski and his wife Melanie of Milton, Kenneth Laskowski and his wife Melissa of Chicago, IL, and Stephanie Malachowski of Franklin. She was also a great-grandmother to Chase Laskowski and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Thursday, June 25 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut St., Chelsea at 9:30 a.m. Interment took place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis. Ramona Vega-Amaro
Former proprietor of State House Cleaners of Bowdoin Street, Boston
Ramona Vega-Amaro, formerly of Maunabo, PR, and a longtime Chelsea resident, passed away on June 18.
She had operated State House Cleaners of Bowdoin Street in Boston. Ramona was the beloved wife of the late Ulysis Amaro and devoted mother of Roberto and Yvette Colon of Puerto Rico, Anthony G. Ortiz of the Chelsea Police Department, and the late Rolando Colon. Her siblings include Frank Vega, Jr., Annette Vega, and Jeanette Vega-Alvarez of New York City, Angel Vega of Florida, and the late Eve and Ralph Vega. She is remembered as the adored grandmother of Rolando Colon Jr. and Anthony Ortiz Jr., and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were arranged by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home in Orient Heights, East Boston. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Joseph Richard
Of New Hampshire, formerly of Chelsea
His greatest joy was to spend time with his family
On June 16, Joseph A. Richard died suddenly at his home in Dunbarton, NH. He was 71 years old.
Born in Chelsea, Joseph had made his home in Dunbarton for the past 23 years.
He was the son of Benjamin and Jeanette Richard and spent his entire career as a machinist, beginning with the Gaulin’s Corporation of Everett. A US Navy veteran and VFW Post #834 member, Joseph enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. Yet his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family, particularly with his granddaughter Jordan.
His survivors include his wife of 50 years, Diane Richard of Dunbarton; his daughter Nicole Richard, son-in-law Joe Bonta, and granddaughter Jordan Richard, all of Winchendon, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Elaine Patti, Linda Riley, Janet Sturgis, Annette Purcell, Joanne Scribner, Arnold, Eddie, Wayne, Ernie, and Barbara Richard, all of Chelsea.
The French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast Street, Goffstown, NH, handled arrangements. Burial with military honors was at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.
