Thomas Fay, Jr.
Former Chelsea Alderman
A longtime Chelsea resident and former city Alderman at Large, Thomas F. Fay, Jr. died on July 3 at the West Revere Health Center (Annemark Nursing Home), where he had been receiving supportive care for two years. He was 73.
Raised in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Sr. and Lillian (MacDonald) Fay. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1959 and went on to study accounting at Bentley College. He later earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Newbury College.
Mr. Fay served as a US Army veteran during the Vietnam Era and received an honorable discharge in 1966. He then returned to Chelsea to start his family of three sons. For nearly 20 years he worked as a yardman at Northeast Petroleum in Chelsea, followed by another 20 years with the MBTA before retiring.
Active in community affairs, he served several terms as Alderman at Large, including time as Board President and Acting Mayor. He ran twice for Mayor and once for State Rep. He coached and held officer positions with the Chelsea Little League and Fast Pitch Softball League. Following his retirement, he moved to Lake Suzy, Florida, where he developed friendships with his new community.
He maintained memberships in the Irish Club, PPC and the former Winnisimmet Club, and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 25 and the MBTA Boston Carmen’s Union.
Surviving him are his three sons: Thomas F. Fay III of Colombia, South America, Scott C. Fay and his wife, Noelle of Danvers, and Todd M. Fay of Chelsea. He is also survived by his grandchildren Samantha Lee Fay and Tyler Patrick Fay, his former wife Margaret Ann Fay of Chelsea, his brother Richard Fay and his wife, Louise of Malden, his brother James Fay and his wife, Betty of Chelsea, his brother Robert Fay and his wife, Anita of Chelsea, his brother Kenneth Fay and his wife, Debra of Melrose, and special friend Carmen Vega of Lynn.
Funeral services take place today, Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Hilda Lillian Reid
Active at Mt. Bellingham United Methodist Church
Hilda Lillian (Snow) Reid, 102, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 30 at the Eastpointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Chelsea.
Born and raised in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Bennett and Mary (Dawe) Snow. After attending school in Canada, she moved to the United States in 1936 and settled in Chelsea, where she lived for nearly 80 years.
Throughout her life, Hilda served as a homemaker, caring for her husband, home, son and daughter. She was a devoted and active parishioner at Mt. Bellingham United Methodist Church in Chelsea, where she participated in numerous craft fairs, ham and bean suppers and fin and hadde luncheons.
She was the wife of the late G. Stanley Reid and mother of the late Stanley S. Reid and Elaine D. Reid. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Gladys F. Vickers Reid of Boxford, her brother Lewis Snow of Canada, her grandchildren Dorothy Reid-Sola of Maine, Donna Reid-Full of Hamilton and Steven S. Reid and his wife, Kim of Boxford, and one great granddaughter, Amanda Reid-Full of Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea. Visiting hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Everett. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Barbara Creeden
Longtime bookkeeper for Delta Airlines Air Cargo
Barbara L. Creeden, 93, died on June 28 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home where she had been receiving supportive care.
Born and raised in Revere, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Anna M. (Goodman) Creeden. She was a lifelong Revere resident (Beachmont) until five years ago, when she moved to the Zelma Lacey Assisted Living in Charlestown.
During World War II, she worked as an assembler at the GE plant in Lynn. She then spent the next 33 years as a bookkeeper for Delta Airlines Air Cargo headquarters at Logan Airport.
She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Beachmont and in retirement became a member of the Beachmont Golden Agers, enjoying painting and pottery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: the late Joseph Allen “Ike” Creeden and his wife, Anna, F. Edna French and her husband, John P., and her nephew, the late John French. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Robert Creeden and his wife, Charlene of Dennis, Paul Creeden of Dorchester, Linda Neshamkin (wife of John French) of Charlestown, David French and his wife, Marge of West Port, CT, Mark French of Boston and David French and his wife, ShaSha of Brookline, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and great nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 11 at 9 a.m. at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Brian Lovett
29 year employee of US Air
Brian D. Lovett of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, passed away on June 30 at his Revere home following a long illness. He was 58 years old.
A Chelsea native who attended local schools, he graduated from Chelsea High School in 1975. Shortly after graduation, he began a 29 year career with US Air at Logan Airport as a fleet service representative. Health issues led to his early retirement in 2004. He lived in Peabody for several years before relocating to Revere eight years ago.
Mr. Lovett lived life fully, enjoying travel and exploring the world. Though his early passing has deeply saddened his wife and friends, the fullness of his life brings them comfort.
He was the beloved husband of 10 years to Rebecca A. (Dougherty) Lovett, the dear brother of Richard J. Lovett of Colorado, and the nephew of the late Richard (Dickie) Lovett.
