Charles Gird
Of Wakefield, formerly of Chelsea
On September 9, Charles W. Gird passed away. He had been living in Wakefield at the time, though he previously resided in Chelsea.
During the Korean War, he served in the US Air Force. His surviving family includes his wife, JoAnne C. (Siders); his children Carl Gird, Charles Gird Jr. with his wife Sara, Dianna L. Wakaf, Anthony Gird, Lisa Paradis with her husband Mark, and Jodi Gird-Rodriguez; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister Joanne C. Kane; and his siblings-in-law Barbara Sidorowicz, Bobby Siders, and Vicky Siders.
The Casper Funeral Home, located at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston, managed the arrangements. At Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, he was laid to rest. The family requests that in place of flowers, contributions be sent to The Fisher House, PO Box 230, South Walpole, MA 02071. Charlie’s loved ones extend their gratitude to the Palliative Care Team at W. Roxbury VA Hospital.

Joseph Rizzo
Revere DPW retiree
At the West Revere Nursing Center, Joseph A. Rizzo of Revere passed away on October 1 at age 90.
He was born in Boston and served as a US Navy veteran during World War II. Throughout much of his career, Joe was employed by the City of Revere’s Department of Public Works.
His wife was Marie (Sciarappa), who predeceased him. He is survived by his children Janice Speranza and her late husband Mario, Judy Minicleri and her husband Larry, John and his wife Stacey, and Joyce Rizzo, all residing in Revere. His grandson John Speranza passed before him. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him.
The Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home in Revere oversaw the funeral arrangements. Woodlawn Cemetery received his remains.
