Students across Chelsea schools have access to an exceptional fundraising opportunity through Eversource Energy’s Change a Light, Change the World Fundraiser, which allows participating schools to retain 100% of profits—a rarity in the fundraising world. This program combines education with fundraising, teaching grades 1-12 about energy efficiency while generating substantial revenue at no cost to schools.
Bill Stack, Eversource Energy Efficiency Spokesperson, emphasized the program’s dual benefits: “fblikebutton_button” “We’ve found that when students are taught about energy efficiency at an early age, it forms habits that stay with them for life,” he noted. He added that “The Change a Light, Change the World Fundraiser is a win-win–empowering students and bringing much needed money into their schools.”
The fundraiser works by having Eversource donate energy-efficient products including light bulbs and power strips for student sales. Schools can accumulate up to $20,000 depending on sales volume, with funds available for whatever purposes the school determines. Since launching, the program has directed thousands of dollars to local schools.
Every Chelsea school qualifies for participation. The program begins with a kickoff featuring two Eversource “Secret Agents” who conduct an interactive energy efficiency session that includes a trivia game, skit performance, and an Energy Efficiency Pact.
Eversource’s commitment to environmental sustainability and New England communities extends through partnerships that promote greener choices in schools. Public and private schools within Eversource’s service area are welcome to join.
