Francis ‘Frank’ Turczyn
Polka enthusiast – passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, his most cherished holiday
Francis H. ‘Frank’ Turczyn, a Chelsea resident, died unexpectedly at his home on Christmas morning at the age of 81.
A lifelong Chelsea native, Frank was the beloved son of the late Wladyslaw and Mary Turczyn. He attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School and completed his education at Everett Vocational High School. During the late 1950s, Frank enlisted in the US Army and served before being discharged between conflicts. His career included work as a cemetery laborer for Fuller Services in Everett, where he maintained the Fuller Street and Jewish Cemeteries.
Polish music and polkas were Frank’s passions, and he regularly attended Saturday night polka dances at the PAV in Chelsea. He was an ardent listener of the Litwin Polka variety radio program and had been active in the Polish Political Club in Chelsea. Christmas held special significance for Frank, who annually transformed his home with elaborate decorations that delighted neighbors and passersby alike. His festive displays earned him multiple awards for Best Decorated Chelsea Home.
Beyond his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his three brothers: Walter, Albert, and Eugene Turczyn. He is survived by his devoted children: Doreen Turczyn of Michigan, Francis Turczyn and his wife Antonia of Tewksbury, Gene Turczyn, and Glen Turczyn and his wife Kristen, both of Chelsea. He is also remembered by his grandson Evan Turczyn and his sister Stella Niedzielski of Michigan.

Julio Torres, Jr., a Chelsea resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 26 at age 46.
He is survived by his devoted wife Tina (McKoy) Torres; his father Julio Torres Sr. of Chelsea and his mother Gloria Camacho of Puerto Rico; his stepchildren Quentin Mina and Terrance McKoy; his siblings Marysol and her husband Enrique Garcia of Chelsea and Janet Torres of Kissimmee, Florida; his nieces and nephews Sabrina Williams, Jordenn White, Brianna Toro, Jarred Frizzell, Sariana Toro, and Deanalee Romero; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends gathered to honor Julio on Friday, January 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights), East Boston, with a memorial service held in the Serenity Chapel at 7 p.m. For additional information, visit www.ruggieromh.com
