METH BUST ON ENGLEWOOD
A significant methamphetamine trafficking organization became the target of a major bust by local and federal law enforcement officials last week.
Following an extended joint investigation involving both federal and local authorities, officers executed a search warrant on Jan. 7 at 15 Englewood Ave. The search yielded more than 200 grams of Methamphetamine and resulted in the arrest of an Allston man.
Matthew Metz, 40, of Allston, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.
While relatively uncommon in Massachusetts, this highly addictive drug has created chronic problems across the Midwest, South and West.
ACCIDENT NEAR BRIDGE
A semi-truck was involved in an accident Tuesday morning at the intersection of Pearl and Williams Streets. The incident occurred when a vehicle attempted to pass the Tractor Trailer unit as it turned onto Pearl Street. Chelsea Police and Fire both responded.
No injuries were reported among those involved.
Chelsea Police continue their investigation.
DRAGGED BY CAR
A Revere man was arrested on charges stemming from allegedly dragging a woman with his car on Jan. 7.
Officers responded to a 12:24 a.m. call reporting a woman dragged by a motor vehicle. Following investigation, the vehicle operator was later located in Revere and taken into custody by Revere Police using information provided by Chelsea Police. The incident appears to have resulted from a drug transaction that went wrong, according to reports.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
Aristides Coutinho, 37, of Revere, was charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (car).
TWO CAR ACCIDENT
Chelsea Fire and Police responded Sunday to a two-car accident on Pearl Street near the Meridian Street Bridge.
One driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after hitting a pole.
ARRESTED FOR PURSE
Police arrested an Everett man on Monday, Jan. 4, following allegations that he stole money from an acquaintance.
According to the victim, the suspect took money from her purse while they were at a Chestnut Street address. She pursued him as he fled into the Dunkin’ Donuts located on Everett Avenue and Arlington.
Dunkin’ Donuts employees contacted police, and the man was taken into custody at the scene.
Jeff Bosquet, 32, of Everett, was charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
