In the Massachusetts Presidential Primary held Tuesday, Chelsea voters cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton on the Democratic side and Donald Trump on the Republican side.
The former Secretary of State and First Lady, Clinton, garnered 2,268 votes in Chelsea, representing 58 percent of Democratic primary votes. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders trailed with 1,531 votes, or 40 percent of the total.
On the Republican side, Trump, a prominent business leader and developer, led the field in Chelsea with 466 votes—60 percent of all Republican votes cast. Behind him, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio received 116 votes for second place. Ohio Gov. John Kasich came in third with 85 votes, followed by U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in fourth with 63 votes.
Both Clinton and Trump emerged victorious in the Massachusetts primary on Super Tuesday, positioning themselves as frontrunners for their respective party nominations.
In the race for Democratic State Committeeman in the district, Calvin Brown secured re-election to a four-year term with 2,522 votes. Brian J. Corr finished second with 537 votes.
Brown, who previously served as a councillor-at-large, expressed gratitude to Chelsea residents.
