Retired Massachusetts Park Services employee; Life Member of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, Revere Chapter of Hadassah, Hebrew Rehab Center for the Aged and former member of Temple B’nai Israel, Beachmont
On Sunday, October 9, Marilyn Charak of Revere passed away. She had previously lived in Malden and Chelsea.
A retired employee of Massachusetts Park Services, Marilyn held Life Membership status at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, Revere Chapter of Hadassah, and Hebrew Rehab Center for the Aged. She was also a former member of Temple B’nai Israel in Beachmont.
She was the devoted wife of the late Frank Charak, to whom she had been married for nearly 69 years. Her children were Gail Volk and her husband Douglas of Maine, and Kenneth Charak and his wife Adrienne of Ohio. Marilyn was the loving daughter of the late Frank Saltzman and Lillian (Cohen) Saltzman. Her siblings included Leonard Saltzman, as well as the late Melvin Saltzman and the late Arnold Saltzman. She is survived by grandchildren Adam and Danielle Illfelder of Pennsylvania, Jonathan Volk and Alan Le of California, Rachel and Elliot Carlson of Minnesota, and Jessica Charak of Las Vegas. Her great-grandchildren were Ilana, Isabelle, and Benjamin Illfelder, Ana Jane Carlson, Martin Charak Carlson, and twins Maddox Khoi Le-Volk and Frankie Mai Le-Volk.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 14 at 11 a.m. at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Avenue, Chelsea. Interment will follow at Chevra Kadisha Cemetery in Everett.
