JUMPED ON THE WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL
A Chelsea High School student reported a robbery to a CPD officer on Nov. 16 at 3:40 p.m. According to the student’s account, he had been walking home the previous day after school when three males approached him from behind and robbed him. The officer gathered details about the attackers and subsequently arrested three juveniles in connection with the armed robbery.
Three 16-year-olds were taken into custody at Chelsea High School for the robbery.
CAUGHT WITH CRACK
Officers stopped a grey 2004 BMW on Nov. 26 at 10:42 p.m. after discovering its license plate was registered to a black 1999 Acura. Following investigation, the driver was arrested. A search turned up a knife, multiple individually wrapped baggies of crack cocaine, Oxycodone pills, and cash. The vehicle itself contained additional individually wrapped baggies of crack cocaine.
Melvin Ramirez, 25, of Winthrop, was charged with trafficking in over 18 grams of cocaine, unregistered motor vehicle and attaching a number plate.
MEAN TO HIS DOG
CPD officers responded to 150 Heard St. on Nov. 24 at 2:35 p.m. following a report of animal cruelty on Thanksgiving. A witness met officers outside the building and reported observing a neighbor kicking a small dog. The subject was arrested, and animal control was called to assume investigation responsibilities.
Shangming Tung, 23, of 150 Heard St., was charged with cruelty to an animal.
SPEEDING ON BROADWAY
While patrolling the Bellingham Square area on Nov. 22 at 10:11 p.m., officers spotted a green 1997 Acura traveling at an excessive speed. After stopping the vehicle and conducting an investigation, the driver was taken into custody on multiple charges and for active warrants. An open container of alcohol was confiscated from the car.
Carlos Marin, 39, of 104 Franklin Ave., was charged with speeding, failing to stop for police, stop sign violation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, selling liquor to a person under 21 and two warrants.
TROUBLE AT THE EL CORRAL
Officers were dispatched to El Corral Restaurant at 408 Broadway on Nov. 20 at 11:43 p.m. in response to a report of a fight at the bar. Upon arrival, security guards informed officers that a male individual had caused a disturbance, attacked security personnel, and damaged the front door window before leaving the scene. Officers searched the area, located the suspect, and placed him under arrest. He was additionally charged with providing a false name to police.
Bryan Hernandez, 24, of Gloucester, was charged with assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250.
