COKE TRAFFICKING BUST
During a search warrant execution at 728 Broadway #1 on Thursday, March 30, the Chelsea Police Drug Unit conducted an investigation that resulted in the seizure of drugs and US currency. A subject was taken into custody at the address.
Enrique Rivera, 23, of 728 Broadway, faced charges of trafficking in cocaine.
BREAKING INTO VEHICLES
Officers responded at 4:01 p.m. on March 30 to the area of 181 Washington Ave. after receiving a report of a suspicious person breaking into vehicles. Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect to responding officers. The suspect immediately complied by placing his hands behind his back when he saw the officers arrive. Stolen items were recovered from his person.
Lucas Miranda, 20, of Everett, was charged with two warrants and two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle for a felony in the day.
BROKE INTO HOME
Officers were dispatched to 149 Chester Ave. around 7:30 p.m. on April 2 in response to a report of a male party possibly breaking into homes. Two witnesses flagged down the arriving officers and pointed them toward Chester Avenue in the direction of Highland Street. According to the witnesses, the identified male had entered their home and fled upon seeing them. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Michael Scoppa, 44, of Boston, was charged with breaking and entering in the night for a felony and trespassing.
BOSTON POLICE ARREST CHELSEA MAN WITH GUN, CRACK
A Chelsea man was arrested by Boston Police at approximately 4:35 PM on Saturday, April 1, after being found carrying an illegal, loaded firearm in Dorchester.
An officer on patrol noticed a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker carrying three males. When the officer attempted to conduct a stop, the operator refused to comply and the vehicle sped away. Due to inclement weather conditions, the officer discontinued pursuit immediately. Moments later, as the officer continued down the street, he observed a cloud of dust and debris. Upon investigation, the officer discovered the suspect vehicle had crashed into another car, with the operator and two passengers fleeing on foot through private backyards and property. The officer broadcast suspect descriptions over the radio and began pursuing them on foot.
Following a lengthy foot chase, the officer apprehended the vehicle operator, identified as 21-year-old Maurice Anthony Nunez of Roxbury, and placed him under arrest.
A State Trooper stopped one of the passengers, identified as 18-year-old Daniel Mejia of Chelsea, a few blocks away. During this stop, a loaded Glock 26 firearm was recovered from Mejia’s waistband. Officers also recovered 12 plastic bags of a substance believed to be crack cocaine from Mejia. Mejia was charged with firearm-related charges, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, Trespassing, and Disorderly Person.
