As summer 2017 approaches its conclusion, the traditional Labor Day weekend is nearly upon us, though it may seem difficult to accept.
“Time and tide wait for no man,” said the poet. The calendar does not deceive, and soon the summer of ’17 will fade into memory. College students have already returned to campus, and numerous public schools in the area have commenced classes this week.
While one might wish for slightly warmer conditions, there is little reason to complain about the exceptional weather of the past two weeks. Abundant sunshine and temperatures ranging from the 70s to low 80s have created pleasant conditions. With local ocean water temperatures around 65-degrees, swimming and quick dips after work have been quite appealing.
As these final precious days of summer slip away, we recognize the feelings of those who might voice the sentiment, “If this is the last, let’s make it a blast.”
