Mass Alliance, a coalition of political organizations committed to advancing progressive values in Massachusetts, is pleased to announce its endorsement of Damali Vidot for the At-Large City Council seat through its Rising Stars Program.
““We are proud to endorse for our Rising Stars Program, Damali Vidot for Chelsea City Council,”,” said Jordan Berg Powers, Executive Director of Mass Alliance. “We know that Damali is going to continue to put the community first, focusing on what it will take to move Chelsea forward. We are excited to join Chelsea voters in supporting Damali.”
Damali Vidot, currently serving as Vice President of the City Council, has expressed her commitment to the One Chelsea vision, which emphasizes a more inclusive and participatory government. She is dedicated to revitalizing local engagement on issues such as development that avoids displacement, supporting Chelsea Youth, and ensuring a genuine voice for all residents on the Council.
Councilor Vidot ran a vigorous campaign during the last Municipal Elections. She led the field in the Preliminary round and secured strong support in the General Election, contributing to one of the highest voter turnouts in a municipal race in Chelsea in recent years.
““I am thankful to Mass Alliance and their members for their continued support. Mass Alliance has an endorsement process that holds candidates and elected officials to a high standard. Their renewed support for me in this second term means a lot, given that I am always working hard to learn more about local and state issues and they have been a rich resource for me and my leadership”,” Vidot shared.
Through efforts such as re-establishing the Chelsea Youth Commission, launching The Movement with other local leaders, and opposing development that fails to prioritize residents, she has remained a bold and determined advocate, helping to bring more residents into the ongoing dialogue about shaping a city that reflects all its people.
Although Damali is running unopposed, she has opened a campaign headquarters where she is making voter calls and conducting door-to-door outreach with supporters. She continues to maintain the energetic campaign she believes is crucial for building community and engaging all residents as the general election approaches on Tuesday, November 7th.
Mass Alliance is a coalition of political and advocacy groups that works to make Massachusetts more progressive. Its member organizations advocate on a range of issues, including civic participation, civil rights, economic justice, education, environmental concerns, healthcare, reproductive rights, and workers’ rights.
Mass Alliance offers strong leadership for the progressive community, nurtures and empowers progressive leaders, and supports them in winning their elections.
