Senator Elizabeth Warren’s reelection campaign has brought on Chelsea City Councilor Judith Garcia as a political surrogate, selecting her from among numerous prominent Massachusetts political figures.

During Saturday’s caucus at the Chelsea Public Library, the 26-year-old councilor—currently serving her second term—took on the role of campaign spokesperson to help mobilize support for Sen. Warren’s reelection bid.
“Senator Warren has remained committed to protecting the most vulnerable in our community, rebuilding economic security for our working families, and making a difference in our state,” Garcia stated.
“During the last six years, Elizabeth has been a devoted leader who remains connected to our residents and the issues that affect us,” Garcia went on. “She pushed for the permanent extension of Earned Income and Child Tax Credits helping to keep 250,000 Massachusetts residents and more than 100,000 children out of poverty. Her values and morals are where they need to be.”
A Chelsea native raised in a Spanish-speaking home, Garcia represents District 5 as City Councilor. She holds the distinction of being both the first Honduran American woman elected to the Chelsea City Council and its youngest sitting member. Through her work in municipal government, Garcia has focused on building representation and developing policies that serve all residents.
