Last night marked the official launch of State Treasurer Deb Goldberg’s campaign to retain her position. The event drew such a large attendance that participants filled the venue to capacity. House Speaker Robert DeLeo introduced Goldberg, who then addressed the assembled crowd about how her core principles have shaped her work leading the State Treasury.
“Economic stability, economic opportunity, and economic empowerment are the values I was raised with and what guides my work as your State Treasurer,” she stated to those gathered. “I am proud of what we have accomplished and am excited to continue to work for the people of Massachusetts as your Treasurer.”
When presenting Goldberg to the audience, DeLeo remarked, “Deb understands that the role of the Treasurer’s office is not just about dollars and cents; it is about making people’s lives better. The programs she has created have had a positive impact for our children, our families, our veterans and seniors across this Commonwealth. Deb Goldberg has made good on all the promises she made when she ran, and she has truly made a difference in people’s lives.”
He went on to say, “Massachusetts is lucky to have Deb Goldberg as our Treasurer. I know she can and she will do even more for our Commonwealth and our residents in the future.”
Goldberg has stewarded the treasury since January 2015 by applying practical business methods to the agency’s operations. Her tenure has emphasized several key areas: advancing wage equality, strengthening workforce diversity, and broadening financial education access. Under her leadership, the office has expanded college savings programs, safeguarded the state’s pension assets, and created new initiatives serving both veterans and seniors.
