Chelsea Police have identified a man of interest in connection with an incident involving a female waitress who sustained a slash wound to her neck and cuts to her hands after pursuing a man who left without paying his bill.
At 11 p.m. on Monday night, officers arrived at 92 Washington Ave. in response to a call. The victim, a woman in her early 30s employed as a waitress at the restaurant Las Pupusas Del Chino, reported the incident to authorities.
According to her account, a male customer departed without settling his bill. When the waitress followed him outside to confront him, the man was in the process of getting into his vehicle. He then produced a cutting instrument and inflicted wounds to her neck and right hand.
The suspect escaped in a red sedan, believed to bear a Colorado license plate, traveling west on Blossom Street. The victim was brought to MGH Boston where she received treatment for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. As of the time of reporting, no arrest had been made, though detectives were pursuing what they described as a strong lead regarding the suspect’s identity.
After a photograph of the suspect was released to the public, the Chelsea Police Department was able to make a positive identification of the individual.
Seeking assistance from the community, the Chelsea Police are asking for help in confirming the suspect’s identity. Detectives are actively working to locate the individual to face charges of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder.
The victim was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday morning.
