During National Nurses Week, May 6-12, Care Dimensions—Massachusetts’s largest hospice and palliative care provider—took time to honor its nursing staff, a significant portion of whom hold board certification in hospice and palliative care.
Patricia Ahern, the organization’s new President & CEO and a 41-year veteran in nursing, shared her perspective: “The capacity to explain complicated medical information is something that everyone values about nurses and the confidence that people have in the technical skills of nurses is remarkable. More importantly, nurses are gifted with the ability to discern the worry and apprehension that folks can’t quite get into words when they are feeling vulnerable and isolated.”
Among those recognized for professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care was Erin Barker, RN., a nurse from Chelsea employed by Care Dimensions.
