Last weekend in North Carolina, Chelsea High track star Stephanie Simons made history as the first female athlete from the school to compete in the National High School championship meet. Her performance reflected well on the city, as she secured 15th place in the high jump and 27th place in the triple jump.

She placed 15th out of 54 in the high jump.
A sophomore, Simons has been a standout for the track team this year alongside her senior sister, Martine. Through strong qualifying performances earlier in the season, Stephanie earned her spot at the New Balance High School National Championships held last weekend at North Carolina A&T University.
Her high jump competition saw her finish 15th among 54 athletes competing from across the United States. In the triple jump, she placed 27th out of 44 competitors.
“The sky is the future for this talented student athlete – who is just a sophomore,” Coach Mark Martineau noted. “She is already looking forward to next year and even better performances.”
The accomplished athlete has already established multiple school records and performed impressively at the Division 1 State Meet earlier this year. Beyond her jumping events, Simons is also an exceptional hurdler.
