That situation has changed.
Through a filing submitted to the federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Wynn Resorts disclosed that Sinatra would step down from her role as general counsel effective July 15.
The company provided no statement to the Independent regarding the transition and has remained silent with other media outlets as well. No explanation for her departure has been made public.
According to reports from Las Vegas media outlets, Sinatra’s severance arrangement could reach $9.5 million.
Shareholder Elaine Wynn, who holds the largest individual stake in Wynn Resorts, has publicly challenged the severance terms.
During Wynn’s initial expansion into the Boston market through its Everett location, Sinatra played an instrumental role. She maintained a prominent presence throughout the licensing process, most notably during the demanding hearings held at the Boston Teacher’s Union Hall in Dorchester in 2014.
At that session, Sinatra engaged in an extended phone conversation with Steve Wynn regarding his willingness to accept additional mitigation requirements – a discussion conducted openly before the full assembly and in view of rival bidder Mohegan Sun.
Following successful negotiations on that call, Sinatra returned with a commitment to the proposed measures, effectively securing the license for Wynn.
In the years since, Sinatra’s presence at the Encore site has been limited, appearing only at select permitting sessions and major Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) proceedings.
