The Chelsea Chamber of Commerce and the City of Chelsea are preparing to welcome the community to the Chelsea Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration. The event takes place Thursday, Nov. 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Chelsea Square.
Two hours of family-friendly entertainment await attendees, featuring music, dance, and crafts throughout Chelsea Square. “The Tree Lighting has been a long standing tradition in Chelsea,” noted City Manager Thomas Ambrosino. “Last year’s event was a great success and we’re looking forward to bringing the community together again. Positive momentum is building and I’m pleased at this latest opportunity to draw more people to the area to shop, dine and gather with their neighbors.”
The program this year will showcase performances from Chelsea High School’s choir, Off Broadway Dance Studio, and the Back Bay Bell Ringers. Visitors can purchase crafts from Empty Bowls to support a charitable cause. A gingerbread person decorating station will allow families to enjoy their creations on site or take them home. Chelsea Chamber of Commerce businesses are donating free refreshments for all guests. In a return to tradition, Santa will arrive in style, transported by the Chelsea Fire Department.
“The Chamber is excited for this time of year,” explained Chamber Acting President Joe Mahoney. “In addition to serving our member organizations and supporting the general commerce of Chelsea, we strive to bring positive programming the whole community can enjoy.”
The Tree Lighting marks the beginning of three major holiday season events. Small Business Saturday will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, presented jointly by the Chamber and Chelsea Prospers, the City of Chelsea’s downtown initiative, to encourage support for locally-owned small businesses. The Chamber’s annual Breakfast with Santa follows on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Williams School.
