Chelsea High’s track standout Stephanie Simon shows no signs of slowing down.
The junior athlete claimed the Division 2 state long jump title on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Roxbury, continuing an impressive season.
As the No. 1 seed heading into the competition, Simon recorded a winning jump of 17 feet, 9 inches to earn first place.

Undefeated throughout the season in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference (CAC), Simon made history as the first female athlete at Chelsea High to capture a divisional state indoor track title.
Chelsea High girls track coach Cesar Hernandez praised Simon’s performance on the day, noting that she achieved her winning 17-9 jump early in her attempts.
“I was very excited to see her win the
Division 2 state championship,” Hernandez remarked, a 2010 CHS graduate who previously participated in the Red Devils’ boys track program.
Simon dominated the CAC indoor track scene this winter, winning championships in the long jump, 55-meter dash, and 55-meter hurdles.
The 5-foot-5-inch athlete will next compete in the All-State Championships this Saturday as the No. 3 seed in her event. “Stephanie is working hard and I think she has put herself is in great position to contend for the title,” Hernandez added.
