Saturday evening brought a substantial turnout to the New Brown Jug for a Chelsea Fire Department fundraiser.
The event proved instrumental in helping the department achieve its financial target for renovating the Chelsea Firefighters Memorial, according to Fire Captain Michael Thompson.
“We want to thank everybody for attending
the fundraiser and making this event a big success,” said Thompson. “Many
thanks to Michael Matrinko for being the gracious host that he was.”
Thompson also took the opportunity to thank Brian Greenhagen, owner of Mystic Brewery, for his support in hosting the April 6 CFD Chili-Off fundraiser at his venue.

The Firefighters Memorial stands across from the Central Fire Station and was originally dedicated in 1972. Since its initial construction, the site had received no maintenance or repairs.
Captain Thompson played a central role in organizing the fundraiser, while Deputy Fire Chief Mike Masucci contributed as both an organizer and event host.
