No Identity
A Chelsea Police Department officer spotted a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on Eastern Avenue on May 11 at 6:50 p.m. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer requested identification from the driver, who refused to comply. The driver was taken into custody for his continued refusal to identify himself. Investigation later revealed he was not properly licensed.
Bryan Nunez, 30, of 63 Shawmut St., faced charges including refusing to identify himself, negligent operation, and unlicensed operation.
Breaking and Entering
Officers arrived at 77 Library St. on May 18 at 1 p.m. in response to a report of a breaking and entering at the residence. The reporting party explained that an unknown male had broken into the apartment but fled when confronted and chased out by her younger brother.
Using her find my iPhone app, the victim was able to track the suspect to a Shurtleff Street location, which she shared with police. The victim identified the suspect at that address, leading to his arrest.
Ariel Melendez, 42, of 61 Shurtleff St., was charged with breaking and entering in the day and larceny from a building.
Driving under the Influence
A minor motor vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 92 Clinton St. on May 18 at 8:44 p.m., and a CPD officer was dispatched to the scene. Two vehicles were involved in the crash. While the drivers exchanged information, the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from one of them. Based on this observation, the officer determined the driver was operating under the influence and made an arrest at the scene.
Marvin Mancia, 39, of 109 Clinton St., was charged with OUI Liquor.
