This Saturday, July 13, the second Chelsea Night Market will open its doors in the Luther Place parking lot, offering downtown visitors an array of food, vendors, and live entertainment after dark.
Building on the energy generated by the Pupusa Fiesta held in April, event organizers are confident the market will draw another substantial crowd eager for evening activities and excitement.
The lineup includes the return of DJ Tempo Suave alongside performances from two live bands.
Sus will deliver classic 70s rock and funk selections, while The Group Activity promises an interactive experience that may well include audience participation before the night concludes.
According to the band, “The band
blends folk, blues, and reggae to bring you a well-planned and often-improvised
musical experience that relies on you for co-creation.”
The Chelsea Public Library has stepped in to organize children’s activities for this edition of the market, and planners are enthusiastic about this addition.
Organizers look forward to welcoming teams from the upcoming markets as well.
Food vendors participating include:
•Eloti, serving summer corn on the cob prepared Latino style.
•North East of the Border, offering various Mexican options.
•Chung Wah, the downtown’s own Asian restaurant
•C&C Artisan Olive Oil providing high quality imported varieties, with samples available to help customers select bottles to purchase.
Craft vendors include:
•Omis World, presented by Chelsea’s own Noemi Torres, featuring thrift items available for purchase or trade. All Planets offers vintage clothing, while Channel 94 specializes in 90s apparel.
•Aldea Maya, selling beaded hummingbirds handcrafted by women in Guatemala’s Lake Atitlán region.
•Crafts and fine art offerings from CBenjamin Art, Jeremy Veldhuis Illustration, and Pan + Scan Illustration, including prints, shirts, coasters, stickers, paintings, postcards, and bags.
•Pamper yourself with handmade soap from Unwind Soaps and soy candles from Wicked Sisters.
Local artist Nirvanna Lildharrie will facilitate an interactive art showcase, while the Appalachian Mountain Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, and Phoenix Charter Academy will provide outreach and engagement activities.
The July Night Market operates from 7-10 p.m. at Luther Place, located behind the Chelsea Walk.
The August market will celebrate human-powered transportation on wheels. Attendees are encouraged to bring skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, or wheelchairs. Spectacular trick rider performances are expected, and MassBike will offer complimentary bike tune-ups and basic repairs.
