Chelsea and Revere police seized about 2.5 kilograms of cocaine and $11,000 in cash from an apartment on Ocean Avenue in Revere on Friday morning, October 9, and arrested two Revere men, according to the Chelsea Police Department. The department said the search was the result of a seven-month joint investigation by the Chelsea Police Drug Unit and the Revere Police Special Investigations Unit.
Police arrested Rafael Gomez, 48, and Carlos Espinosa Cabral, 27, both of Revere, the department said. Both will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court. The release also listed drug paraphernalia among the items seized. It did not list the charges or say when the arraignments will take place. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.
“This is another great example of Chelsea and Revere collaborating for a common goal; taking drugs off our streets and holding those selling them accountable,” Police Chief Keith Houghton said in the release. “Excellent job by all.”
It is the second joint Chelsea and Revere drug case announced in less than three weeks. On September 23, the same two units searched a home on Gore Road in Revere and arrested a 27-year-old Revere man, seizing more than 100 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of crack cocaine and two firearms.
The department did not say what led investigators to the apartment or whether any of the cocaine was being sold in Chelsea.
