Kevin McTaggart of Everett, who managed the Honey Fitz in Malden and tended bar there for years, died September 27 after a nine-year fight with cancer.

He was born and raised in Malden, a proud first-generation Irish American and the son of the late James McTaggart and Margaret “Peggy” (Cloherty) McTaggart. He went to Malden High School and Bunker Hill Community College. After the Honey Fitz he spent more than 20 years as a property manager, working with his best friend, Jimmy Sullivan.

Friends remember his quick wit and how hard he worked. He spent many summers at Hampton Beach with the Sullivan family, and he was an uncle to Jimmy Sullivan Jr. and Brooke Sullivan. He loved his two dogs, Shep and Sandy.

He leaves his brother, James McTaggart, cousins and friends. His sisters, Mary “Teresa” McTaggart and Margaret Anne McTaggart, died before him.

His funeral service was held October 5 at the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home in Everett, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
