Sister Eleanor Pierce
71-Year Religious Sister
Eleanor Pierce, whose parents Don and Ella Pierce of Chelsea have passed away, died peacefully on November 23 at the age of 90. She had previously lived at Saint Rose Convent in Chelsea and spent her later years in retirement at Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana. For 71 years as a member of The Sisters of Providence, she devoted herself to serving God and her community. Her legacy of service will be remembered by those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind her sister Patricia Pierce of Chelsea as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life took place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana.

Lily Winsor
Lifelong Chelsea Resident
On December 1, Lily (Roberts) Winsor died at the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Weymouth. A lifelong Chelsea resident, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Ann (Bradbury) Roberts and the widow of Harry Winsor. Throughout her working years, Lily held positions at various companies, retiring in 1983. She spent 25 years at Hub Electric testing starters for fluorescent lights and also worked in gift wrapping at the former Hysil Mfg. Inc in Revere. Active in her community, Lily volunteered with and was a member of the Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army in Chelsea. In her final years, she relocated to Weymouth to receive care from her niece. She was preceded in death by her siblings Arthur Roberts Jr., William J. Roberts, Eliza Russell and Susie Mae Barrett. Her surviving family includes her niece Connie Thornton of Weymouth, nephew Major Edward C. Russell and his wife Darlene of Pennsylvania, niece Carol Christensen of Rockport, dear friend Serena Joyce and her family of Revere, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will take place today, Thursday, December 5 at 10 a.m. at The Salvation Army Citadel, 258 Chestnut St., Chelsea. Major Edward C. Russell of the Salvation Army will officiate. Following the service, interment will occur at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. The William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, 389 Washington Ave. Chelsea, is handling arrangements. All are welcome to attend.

Jeanette ‘Jenny’ Guerrieo
Of Chelsea
Jeanette “Jenny” Guerrieo of Chelsea passed away on November 27. The daughter of the late Domenic and Florence Guerrieo, she is remembered by her nephews Domenic Guerrieo and his wife Patricia, Lou Guerrieo and his wife Maureen, Anthony Guerrieo and his wife Martha, and her niece Judy Cook and her husband Norman, along with many other cherished family members. The Salvatore Rocco and Sons Funeral Home in Everett handled arrangements. She was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Phyllis Swartz
Of Winthrop, formerly of Chelsea
Phyllis (Gilman) Swartz, formerly of Chelsea and latterly of Winthrop, died on November 29 at age 91. Born and raised in Chelsea, she attended local schools and graduated from Chelsea High School in the Class of 1941. She worked as an audit clerk for the Internal Revenue Service in Boston until her retirement in 1982. In Winthrop, Phyllis was active in the Art Association, serving as a former committee chairman, and had previously volunteered as a leader with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She had a passion for travel, reading, crafts, game shows and spending time with family. Phyllis was the devoted wife of the late Irving Swartz and the mother of Samuel Swartz and his wife Linda Mangion, Cindy Carrigan and her husband Joseph, and the late Ann-Bonnie Baseman and her husband Robert. She was the sister of the late Bernice Berk and grandmother to Andrew, Natalie, Brendan, Ryan and his wife Alicia, and Ruth, as well as two great-grandchildren. A service was held on December 1 at Torf Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with interment in Everett.
